Starfish Solutions, now a part of the Hobsons family, makes software to help students succeed—by enabling colleges, universities, and centers of higher education to better assist, and therefore retain students.

The Metrics

Starfish measures their success by the number of students it can serve through its software—but to access the students they must persevere through a long, complex, and very involved sales process.  Using their web presence to learn more about the questions and needs the members of the educational facilities committee have enables them to make the most of each conversation and provides an edge in these protracted sales endeavors.

The Challenge

Starfish’s site had fallen behind the times and failed to reflect that Starfish was a leader in the space. A competitor recently updated their website, and the new look made the competitor look more up-to-date.  As a result, Starfish missed out on an opportunity where it could have had an extraordinary impact on a significant populations of students.

Through our collaboration with Starfish’s team, we were able to revitalize the site, not only making it more appealing visually, but also helping to ensure it aligned with their branding and messaging as well as its business objectives. Starfish can now make the most of each visit, tracking the engagement and contacts the site generates and leverage that informational edge to have more meaningful conversations with their clients.

The Impact

The new site better positioned Starfish to make the most of new opportunities with a number of institutions. Since the new site’s launch, Hobsons acquired Starfish, which now enables Starfish to impact even more students. Now, Starfish is able to maintain a leadership position in its industry and reach more students than it was able to previously.
