Our Interview Process
Got an interview? Awesome! It'll go down something like this.
Step 1
Culture Check
Our first conversation will be a brief Zoom call to check that we vibe with each other. We'll want to learn a bit about you, address some logistics, make sure we're on the same page about the role, and confirm the information in your application.
Step 2
Team Interview / Assessment
Once we've narrowed things down to a small handful of candidates, we'll set up time for you to interview with other members of your future department. You'll talk about you, we'll talk about us, and we'll ask each other lots of questions.
Step 3
Practical Assessment
When we've narrowed it down to a few finalists who are seriously being considered for the position, we'll likely ask you to complete a brief practical assessment to make sure you have the skills to do the job.
In some cases, we may offer an opportunity to do (paid) freelance work in lieu of an assessment.
Step 4
Final Conversation
Now that you've met the team, learned about the role, and shown off your skills, we'll meet one last time to confirm that it seems like the right fit all around. If everything looks good, you might just be the newest team member at Yoko Co.
How long does all this take?
It usually takes up to a week or two for us to review your initial application. Once we reach out to you for an interview, the rest of the process typically lasts anywhere from 2-4 weeks, from the first interview to receiving your job offer.
If you have a strict timeline, let us know, and we'll do what we can to be accommodating.
Where will we do interviews?
We're a remote team, and we do a lot of video calls here at Yoko Co. Because of this, your interviews will be done through Zoom (or similar), and we ask that you be ready to have your camera on.
Will you tell my current job that I've applied?
No. We won't reach out to your current employer, unless you provide them as a reference at the end of the interview process.
Wanna seem like you did your research?
Here's some stuff to know before you apply for a job at Yoko Co.
You’ll make a difference.
Our work is about more than numbers. It’s about doing things we believe in to effect positive change. You can even choose which projects you’ll work on.
Things move quickly.
You'll be working on multiple projects at any given time and things sometimes get hectic. If you currently work for the government, a nonprofit, or an educational institution, it might be a tough transition.
Pants optional.
Pretty much everyone works remotely, from home or a shared office. You don’t have to worry about a commute, nor will you be tied to a specific location.
Salary, benefits and bonuses.
Most employees are eligible for a full-time salary, health benefits, bonuses and a 401k with company match. Heck, we'll even throw in a free hat.
Self-discipline required.
We’re not micro-managers and no one will be looking over your shoulder to make sure you do your job. (Except for the invisible monster that lives in your house and is standing right behind you.)
Unlimited PTO. For realz.
Unlimited vacation. Unlimited sick leave. As long as your work isn't negatively impacted, you're free to take that week-long trip to the World Bagpipe Championships.
We ❤ holidays.
We take off all federal holidays, most of the week of Thanksgiving and TWO WEEKS(!!!) at the end of the year.
Commitment Flexibility
We offer many positions in full-time, part-time, or contract varieties. If you're looking for something specific, just ask.
No dogs dressed as humans.
We no longer hire dogs dressed like people, NO MATTER HOW FANCY THE CLOTHES. We WILL NOT be fooled again.

When you join our team, your work is important - but your mindset matters, too.
A Need to Help
We share a deep-rooted need to help others.
Multitalented
We have multiple skill sets and are always willing to learn more.
Individual Ownership
We share a “the buck stops with me” mentality.
Never Satisfied
We are driven to always do better.
Vision & Execution
We see the big picture and understand our role in it.
Focused on Humans
We value people as people, not just their job title.
